Healing Democracy Initiative




Thank you for your interest in serving as a Poll Chaplain or Digital Democracy Chaplain through Healing Democracy.


Together, we help create a grounded, compassionate, and nonpartisan election season by accompanying people where democracy is happening, both at polling places and in online spaces.


No prior experience is required. We provide the training, support, and community. You bring your presence.


Training details, locations, and participation links will be sent to registered volunteers as the training dates approach.


What You'll Learn



  • The role of Poll and Digital Democracy Chaplains

  • Grounded presence and trauma-informed care

  • De-escalation and compassionate communication

  • Election Day expectations and resources




Who Can Participate?


Anyone who wants to help create a more grounded, caring election season.


No prior experience, ordination, or formal title is required. We welcome community members, students, faith leaders, organizers, retirees, and anyone committed to serving with compassion, respect, and a nonpartisan spirit.




Commitment


Volunteers are asked to:



  • Attend one required training

  • Indicate Election Day availability

  • Serve with compassion, respect, and a nonpartisan presence


Assignments and additional details will be shared after training.




Why This Matters



People experience democracy in many ways. Whether at the polls or online, Healing Democracy equips volunteers to offer a calm, compassionate presence that helps people feel welcomed, respected, and supported.
